About the Company

I’ve been sending personally created greeting cards for many years, and have always received very positive feedback. One day, it just clicked – “Why not start my own greeting card company?”

During the initial design process, I came across this photo I’d taken of a cat on the grounds of a Zen Monastery, where I had come to meditate. I’d liked the way the cat, although off-balance, was still alert and focused. It exemplified for me a “Zen” state of mind – being fully in the moment, ready for whatever comes your way. The great Zen masters often used eccentric methods to throw their students off-balance, in order to awaken them to their “true nature” or authentic self, like a whack on the side of the head, or a mighty shout! They also gave their students “Koans” – paradoxical, profound and perplexing questions to ponder. Incomprehensible to the intellect, they point to the nature of reality and can only be understood in an intuitive way.

Here’s a classic Koan: “What is the sound of one hand clapping?” My answer: Hmm, maybe it’s me, until you become the new audience for my images! Or, it could be a pointing to the silence that allows us to hear our inner selves.

I see images and listen for their voices. The sentiment on the front of the card is meant to be a catalyst, eliciting your own creativity. Look at my cards with a fresh eye, and enjoy their quirkiness. They’re different, and they’re designed for you . . . an Individual!
